Path of Exile’s latest expansion released at the end of the last week and the impact on the game’s playerbase has been remarkable. Fall of Oriath, the game’s sixth expansion overall made a significant number of changes to the game and according to data gathered on Steam, they have been well received with the overall playerbase up 1000%, topping out at 86,000 players on Friday night. It’s a great success for a game that’s been ticking over nicely for a few years, and deserves to be praised for its extensive approach to the latest expansion.
Fall of Oriath goes above and beyond in terms of new content six new acts, bringing the total to ten, so the game has more than doubled in size on the basis of this one expansion. The player returns to Oriah in Act 5 to a completely new area, as well as adding the Pantheon system and its huge list of god based buffs and perks. We have lost the old cruel and merciless difficulties but it feels like a more than fair trade off. There’s a lot more to the expansion so check out the full patch notes for the complete list.
