Malthael, best known as the antagonist and end boss of Diablo III’s first expansion Reaper of Souls, was added to the ever-expanding roster of Blizzard’s massive MOBA Heroes of the Storm over the weekend. The assassin class character wields his traditional scythe, and has an ability to instantly teleport through an enemy with Reaper’s Mark, and then apply the character a death sentence via Last Rites, all built the Reaper’s Mark which turns Malthael in a huge damage dealer. It’s all very on theme for a character described on battle.net as:
‘Once the Aspect of Wisdom, Malthael abandoned heaven after the Worldstone’s destruction. In secret, he has resolved to end the Eternal Conflict by becoming a Reaper of Souls and eliminating everything affected by demonic corruption, including humanity.’
Additionally, Malthael’s original home Diablo III is receiving an update as well, with the new Necromancer class currently in BETA testing. Alongside this Blizzard has reduced the new female Necromancer trailer for your viewing pleasure. Necromancers are powerful spell casters using traditional dark magic such as curses and reanimation, and do alongside a fascinating collection of pets/familiars to fell their enemies.
