We’ve been visiting Middle Earth via Lord of the Rings Online since it’s release in 2007, and have seen all the realms of men, elves, hobbits and dwarves, and now it’s time to travel deep into the heart of the enemy with the upcoming Mordor expansion that’s due out this summer. July 31st has been given as the official release, but the developers have given themselves a little buffer for delays, confirming that the absolute latest players with be able to access all the content and items by the end of August.
Mordor is not a small update however, and those who want to experience everything they have to offer will have to spend. There are a few levels you can go in at, with the base expansion costing $40 but not giving you access to the new High Elf Race. If you want to try on some new pointy ears that will cost you at least $80, and a $120 level which mostly seems to be for the pimped out customisable content. There’s a full FAQ post up for anyone after further information.
